Tour Itinerary
- Day 1:
Vadstena
Arrive Vadstena, beautifully situated on the shores of Lake Vättern. Vadstena, one
of Sweden's most charming and historically significant towns, is a site of a royal
castle and St. Birgitta's first convent. Dinner and overnight at the Vadstena Kloster
Hotel (www.klosterhotel.se), one of Sweden’s oldest building, a convent. This unique
hotel with all the modern comforts is adjacent to the famous church of St.Birgitta,
3 minutes walk from the picturesque centre of Vadstena and 5 minutes lakeside stroll
from the medieval castle.
Sightseeing Options:
- Visit the small community of Grums—Located in the village of Vegerbol in the vicinity
of Värmskog. In 1876 Lars Magnus Ericsson established his company and 2 years later
the first telephone was delivered. LM Ericsson was to be a giant group and today
the company called Ericsson is prominent within telecommunication.
- Karlskoga—Visit the Nobel Museum at Bjorkborns Herrgård, where Alfred Nobel spent
the last years of his life. Tour the donor’s home and the laboratory in which he
invented low smoke gunpowder.
- Day 2:
Excursion in Area
Day free for explorations. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Sightseeing Options:
- Vadstena Castle—One of Sweden’s best preserved castles from approx. 1520
- Cruise the Göta Canal—Sail from Motala to Borensborg and return. Depart at 10:30am
and return at 3:30pm. Lunch on board.
- Day 3:
Vadstena – Depart
