Tour Itinerary

  • Day 1:
    Chicago — Bergen

    Depart Chicago O’Hare on your Scandinavian Airlines transatlantic flight or request space from your home city upon registration. For further information, see Air Transportation under Terms & Conditions.
  • Day 2:
    Bergen

    [D]
    Arrive at Flesland Airport Bergen. Transfer to hotel in city center. Balance of day free to relax and adjust to time change. Welcome dinner and overnight at Clarion Admiral Hotel.
  • Day 3:
    Bergen

    [B]
    Morning sightseeing tour of Norway’s second largest city includes a visit to Troldhaugen, home of Norway’s internationally-known composer, the late Edvard Grieg. Tour concludes with a guided walk through the historic Hanseatic Wharf, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Afternoon and evening free to visit the famous Fish Market, ride the funicular to the top of Mount Fløyen for a magnificent view of Bergen, or stroll through the old cobble-stoned streets. Dinner on own.
  • Day 4:
    Bergen — Voss — Flåm — Balestrand

    Drive to Voss. Depart by train on the famous Oslo/Bergen Railroad. At Myrdal board the Flåm Railway, ranked as one of the top 20 train rides in the world. Within 13 miles descend 2800 feet to the idyllic fjord community of Flåm. Proceed to Gudvangen. Ascend the 13 hairpin bends of the thrilling Stalheim Road. Continue over the Vik Mountains. Ferry across the mighty Sognefjord from Vangsnes to Dragsvik. Dinner and overnight at the historic Kvikne’s Hotel in Balestrand.
  • Day 5:
    Balestrand — Loen

    Ferry from Dragsvik to Hella. Drive along the Sognefjord to Sogndal and on the Fjærland road to Skei. Opportunity to purchase quality crafts and woven products at Audhild Viken’s Weaving Workshop. Afternoon excursion to the sparkling Briksdal Glacier. Proceed to Loen for dinner and overnight at the lovely Alexandra Hotel.
  • Day 6:
    Loen — Geiranger — Vinstra

    Cruise the renowned Geiranger Fjord (a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2005) from Hellesylt to Geiranger. Weather permitting, drive to Dalsnibba Observation Point for a breathtaking view of the Geiranger Fjord. Drive across the Grotli Mountains to Lom. Visit the Fossheim Steinsenter in Lom for a chance to explore the Stone Museum and shop in the jewelry gallery. Continue through the spectacular Otta and Gudbrandsdal Valleys to Vinstra. Dinner and overnight at Fefor Høyfjellshotell. In the evening enjoy a local folk dance and fiddle performance.
  • Day 7:
    Vinstra — Lillehammer — Oslo:

    Drive to Lillehammer, nestled along the shores of Norway’s largest lake, Lake Mjøsa. View the sites of the 1994 Winter Olympics. Time on own in Lillehammer prior to our departure to a local farm where we meet a Norwegian family and savor a festive late afternoon dinner. Proceed to Oslo. Overnight at Grand Hotel/Quality Hotel 33.
  • Day 8:
    Oslo

    Morning sightseeing tour of Oslo includes a visit to Vigeland Sculpture Park, the Viking Ship Museum and the Norwegian Folk Museum. Afternoon free for shopping and independent explorations. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
  • Day 9:
    Oslo — USA

    Tour ends following breakfast. Transfer to Gardermoen Airport for return flight. Longer stays may be requested upon registration for an additional charge of $50.
