Daily Itinerary

Norway Day 1 Mon., July 14 - Mpls/St. Paul - Bergen
Depart Mpls/St.Paul on your transatlantic flight or request space from your home city upon registration.

Day 2 Tue., July 15 - Bergen
Arrive at Flesland Airport in Bergen, Norway’s second largest city. Transfer to hotel in city center. Balance of day free to relax and adjust to time change. Welcome dinner and overnight at Clarion Hotel Admiral. [D]

Day 3 Wed., July 16 - Bergen - Voss - Flåm
Morning sightseeing tour of Bergen includes a visit to Troldhaugen, home of Norway’s renowned musician, the late Edvard Grieg. City tour concludes with a guided walk through the historic Hanseatic Wharf, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Afternoon drive to Voss. Board the Oslo/Bergen Railway to Myrdal. Change to the Flåm Line, ranked as one of the top 20 train rides in the world. Within 13 miles descend 2800 feet to the idyllic fjord community of Flåm, situated along the beautiful Aurland Fjord. Dinner and overnight at Fretheim Hotel. [B,D]

Day 4 Thu., July 17- Flåm - Oslo
Drive the Aurland Valley. Continue to Ål. Visit the Torpo Stave Church. Proceed via Gol and the beautiful Hallingdal Valley to Oslo. Balance of day and evening free to explore this vibrant city. Dinner on own. Overnight at the classic Grand Hotel. [B]

Day 5 Fri., July 18 - Oslo - Copenhagen
In the morning enjoy a sightseeing tour of Oslo. Visit the beautiful Frogner Park with the lifetime work of Gustav Vigeland, Norway’s greatest sculptor. Proceed to the island of Bygdøy for a visit to the impressive Viking Ship Museum, where you will find authentic 1,000 year-old Viking ships and archeological finds from Viking times. Time free to take a harbor cruise or stroll along the main street, Karl Johan. At 4pm board a DFDS Seaways overnight cruise to Copenhagen. Dinner and overnight on board. [B,D]

Day 6 Sat., July 19 - Copenhagen
Breakfast on board. Morning arrival in Copenhagen. Following disembarkation, enjoy a city sightseeing tour including the noon-time guard change at Amalienborg Palace, the winter residence of the Royal Family, and the famous statue of the Little Mermaid. Balance of day free. Time to browse the world’s longest shopping street, Strøget. Opportunity to shop at Royal Copenhagen or experience the magic of Tivoli Gardens where you will find amusements, concerts and restaurants to tempt your palate along with an abundance of flowers, trees and thousands of glittering lights. Dinner on own. Overnight at the Scandic Hotel Copenhagen City. [B]

Day 7 Sun., July 20 - Copenhagen - Malmö - Växjö
Drive the 10-mile Øresund Bridge, linking Denmark and southern Sweden, from Copenhagen to Malmö. Drive through the fertile plains of southern Sweden distinguished from the rest of the country by its geography, culture and history. Continue to the heart of the Swedish Glass District, home of 16 major glassworks. Opportunity to purchase glass at discount prices before enjoying a “Hyttsill” evening, a time-honored tradition in the Kingdom of Crystal featuring glass blowing, traditional food and music. Overnight at Elite Stadshotellet Växjö. [B,D]

Day 8 Mon., July 21 - Växjö - Stockholm
Drive north through the picturesque Swedish countryside. Stop in Gränna where the production of peppermint sticks (polkagriser) is a popular attraction. In Berg, view the locks of the famous 380-mile Göta Canal which links Gothenburg and Stockholm by utilizing Sweden’s lakes, rivers, canals and a stretch of the sea. Continue to Stockholm, considered to be one of the world’s most beautiful cities positioned on 14 islands separated by wide bays, broad channels and narrow waterways. Dinner and overnight at Nordic Light Hotel. Prior to dinner, a reservation has been made at the world’s first permanent year-round “Ice Bar” located in the nearby Nordic Sea Hotel. It’s a room beyond the ordinary world, and a “cool” place to enjoy a drink in a glass made of ice. [B,D]

Day 9 Tue., July 22 - Stockholm
Morning sightseeing tour of Stockholm includes the City Hall, site of the annual Nobel Prize banquet, the Royal Palace, and the famous Vasa Museum, home of the 17th century warship which sank on her maiden voyage. Afternoon and evening free to explore Stockholm including Old Town (Gamla Stan) with its narrow cobbled streets and old merchants’ houses. Dinner on own. [B]

Day 10 Wed., July 23 - Stockholm - Helsinki
Morning free in Stockholm. Afternoon transfer to quay for an overnight Silja Line cruise across the Baltic Sea to Finland. Dinner and overnight on board. [B,D]

Day 11 Thu., July 24 - Helsinki
Breakfast on board. Morning arrival in Helsinki, an architecturally rich city with an eclectic mix of Eastern and Western influences. Following disembarkation, enjoy a city sightseeing tour including the neoclassical Senate Square, Sibelius Park, the Temppeliaukio Rock Church, and the colorful market square. Afternoon free. Dinner and overnight at Scandic Hotel Marski. [B,D]

Day 12: Fri., July 25 - Helsinki – USA
Tour ends following breakfast. Transfer to airport for return flight or take an optional extension to St. Petersburg, Russia. Longer stays may be requested for an additional charge of $50. (B)

Day 12 Fri., July 25 - Helsinki - St. Petersburg
Morning departure by train to St. Petersburg, a city overflowing with nearly three centuries of elegant architecture and often called the “Venice of the North”. Upon arrival, enjoy a city tour including the Nevsky Prospect with its old houses and palaces, the Palace Square, the Bronze Horsemen, a panoramic view of the Peter and Paul Fortress, and a visit to St. Isaac’s Cathedral. Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight at the 5-star Radisson SAS Royal Hotel located on Nevsky Prospect, the main street of St. Petersburg. [B,D]

Day 13 Sat., July 26 - St. Petersburg
Drive to Peterhof and tour Peter the Great’s Palace. Enjoy lunch prior to returning to St. Petersburg by hydrofoil for a visit to the Hermitage, housing fabulous collections of paintings, statues, antique furniture and gifts to Catherine the Great and other rulers of Russia. Dinner on own. [B,L]

Day 14 Sun., July 27 - St. Petersburg
Morning excursion to Pushkin includes a visit to Catherine the Great’s Palace.Afternoon free for independent explorations. In the evening experience a Russian folklore show following dinner at a local restaurant. [B,D]

Day 15 Mon., July 28 - St. Petersburg - USA
Tour ends following breakfast. Morning at leisure. Afternoon transfer to airport for return flight. [B]
