Daily Itinerary
Day 1 Sun., July 20 - Mpls/St.Paul - Oslo
Depart Mpls/St.Paul on your transatlantic flight or request space from your home
city upon registration.
Day 2 Mon., July 21 - Oslo
Arrive at Gardermoen Airport Oslo. Transfer to hotel in city center. Balance of
day free to relax and adjust to time change. Welcome dinner and overnight at the
classic Grand Hotel. [D]
Day 3 Tue., July 22- Oslo
Morning sightseeing tour of Oslo includes a visit to Vigeland Sculpture Park and
the Viking Ship Museum. Afternoon and evening free for shopping and independent
explorations. Dinner on own. [B]
Day 4 Wed., July 23 - Oslo - Eidsvoll - Hamar - Lillehammer
Drive to Eidsvoll. Visit the manor house where Norway´s Constitution was written
and passed on May 17, 1814, Norway´s National Day. Continue to Hamar. Tour the unique
Glass Cathedral. With its special construction of glass and steel, the structure
is an architectural and technological masterpiece to protect the cathedral ruins,
which are considered to be one of Norway’s foremost cultural landmarks from the
Middle Ages. The surrounding park also boasts one of Norway’s largest herb gardens,
with more than 30 different varieties. Proceed to Lillehammer nestled along the
shores of Norway´s largest lake, Lake Mjøsa. View the sites of the 1994 Winter Olympics.
Dinner at a local farm. Overnight at Rica Victoria Hotel Lillehammer. [B,D]
Day 5 Thu., July 24 - Lillehammer - Røros
Tour one of Norway´s famous open-air museums, Maihaugen, with its collection of
120 buildings from the Gudbrandsdal Valley, along with the Garmo Stave Church. In
the afternoon travel north to the old wooden mining town of Røros, founded in 1644.
Dinner and overnight at Quality Hotel Røros. [B,D]
Day 6 Fri, July 25 - Røros - Trondheim
Røros is a historic town which began mining copper in 1646 and since 1980 is a UNESCO
World Heritage Site for its well preserved buildings. Tour the Røros Church. Afternoon
drive along the Gauldal Valley and through the Sør-Trondelag region to Trondheim.
Dinner and overnight at Radisson SAS Royal Garden Hotel. [B,D]
Day 7 Sat., July 26 - Trondheim
Morning sightseeing tour of Trondheim includes a visit to the Nidaros Cathedral,
one of the most splendid cathedrals in Scandinavia. Afternoon free for independent
explorations. Dinner on own. [B]
Day 8 Sun., July 27- Trondheim - Molde
Depart for Møre og Romsdal. Drive the Atlantic Ocean Road with the vast and boundless
ocean on one side and majestic snowclad mountain peaks towering on the other. Visit
the fishing village of Bud, which in the 16th and 17th centuries was the most important
trading center between Bergen and Trondheim. Lunch in Bud. Continue to Molde, also
known as the “City of Roses”. Dinner and overnight at Rica Seilet Hotel. [B,L,D]
Day 9 Mon., July 28 - Molde - Geiranger - Loen
Drive to Åndalsnes. Travel the “Golden Route” climbing the breathtaking Troll’s
Path with its steep and narrow hairpin bends, and descending the Eagle Road to the
famous village of Geiranger. Cruise the dramatic Geiranger Fjord (a UNESCO World
Heritage Site since 2005) from Geiranger to Hellesylt. Continue to Loen. Dinner
and overnight at the luxurious Alexandra Hotel. [B,D]
Day 10 Tue., July 29 - Loen - Voss
Morning excursion to the sparkling Briksdal Glacier. Opportunity to purchase quality
crafts and woven products at Audhild Viken’s Weaving Workshop in Skei. Ferry across
the Sognefjord from Mannheller to Fodnes. Drive through the world’s longest tunnel
(15.22 miles) from Lærdal to Aurland. Ascend the 13 hairpin bends of the thrilling
Stalheim Road to Voss. Dinner and overnight at the historic Fleischer’s Hotel. [B,D]
Day 11 Wed., July 30 - Bergen Excursion
Excursion to Norway’s second largest city, Bergen. Our city sightseeing tour includes
Troldhaugen, home of Norway’s renowned musician, the late Edvard Grieg. Tour concludes
with a guided walk through the historic Hanseatic Wharf. Time on own for shopping,
independent explorations and/or a stroll through the colorful Fish Market prior
to our return to Voss for dinner and overnight at hotel. [B,D]
Day 12 Thu., July 31 - Voss - Flåm - Oslo
Depart Voss by train to Myrdal. Change to the Flåm Line, deemed by some as the most
fantastic train ride in Europe. Descend the Flåm Valley, dropping 2800 feet within
13 miles to the idyllic fjord community of Flåm. Return to Oslo via the beautiful
Hallingdal Valley. Farewell dinner and overnight at the Holmenkollen Park Hotel
Rica with a lovely view of the Oslo Fjord. [B,D]
Day 13 Fri., Aug. 1 - Oslo - USA
Tour ends following breakfast. Transfer to airport for return flight. Longer stays
may be requested upon registration for an additional charge of $50. Inquire about
