DAY 1 SUNDAY, JUNE 29
Mpls/St. Paul―Bergen: Depart on your transatlantic flight. To request alternate dates or for estimated airfare supplements from other US cities, please note on application.
DAY 2 MONDAY, JUNE 30 [D]
Bergen: Arrive at Bergen Flesland Airport. Transfer to hotel. Balance of day free to adjust to time change. Welcome dinner and overnight at the Hotel Norge by Scandic, or similar.
DAY 3 TUESDAY, JULY 1 [B,D]
Bergen: Morning sightseeing tour of Norway’s second largest city includes a walk through the historic Hanseatic Wharf (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Afternoon and evening free to visit the famous Fish Market or ride the funicular to the top of Mount Fløyen for a magnificent view of Bergen. Dinner on own. Overnight at hotel.
DAY 4 WEDNESDAY, JULY 2 [B,D]
Bergen – Flåm – Lofthus: Drive to Voss. Transfer to the Oslo/Bergen Railway and continue to Myrdal and board the famous Flåm Railway, ranked as one of the top 20 train rides in the world. Enjoy breathtaking views and the thundering sound of waterfalls as we descend 2800 feet within 13 miles from Myrdal to Flåm. Cruise the dramatic Aurlandfjord and Nærøyfjord from Flåm to Gudvangen. Meet the motorcoach in Gudvangen and proceed to Lofthus, located in the heart of Norway’s cherry, apple and pear orchards. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Ullensvang, or similar, along the Sørfjord.
DAY 5 THURSDAY, JULY 3 [B,L,D]
Lofthus – Stavanger: Morning drive from Lofthus to Ølen. Visit a local rosemaling artist and enjoy a light lunch. Ferry from Arsvågen to Mortavika and drive the underwater tunnels from Rennesøy to Randaberg en route to Stavanger, the hub of North Sea oil exploration and development operations. Dinner and overnight at Clarion Hotel Stavanger, or similar.
DAY 6 FRIDAY, JULY 4 [B]
Stavanger: Morning sightseeing tour of Stavanger. This modern Norwegian city is a charming mixture of old and new, retaining much of its 18th century charm. Balance of day free. Dinner on own. Overnight at hotel.
DAY 7 SATURDAY, JULY 5 [B,D]
Stavanger – Kristiansand: Drive the North Sea Scenic Highway, the link between Southern and Western Norway. Pass through Jæren, one of Norway’s leading agricultural districts. Continue to Kristiansand, “the capital of Southern Norway,” a small maritime city nestled along the Norwegian coastline. Dinner and overnight at Thon Hotel Kristiansand, or similar.
DAY 8 SUNDAY, JULY 6 [B,D]
Kristiansand – Vrådal: Pristine coastal villages with white-washed houses line the southern coast of Norway. Visit the maritime town of Grimstad, with its harbor, market square and a museum dedicated to the early life of Henrik Ibsen. Tour of the Maritime Museum. Proceed to Vrådal. Dinner and overnight at the Straand Hotel, or similar.
DAY 9 MONDAY, JULY 7 [B,L,D]
Vrådal – Rjukan: Visit the West Telemark Museum in Eidsborg, one of Norway’s largest outdoor museums and tour the Eidsborg Stave Church. Continue to the “fairytale” Dalen Hotel for lunch. Drive to Rjukan for dinner and overnight at Gaustablikk Hotel, or similar.
DAY 10 TUESDAY, JULY 8 [B]
Rjukan – Oslo: Visit the Industrial Museum and Vemork Power Station, where the Nazis produced “Heavy Water” for their atomic bomb experiments during the war. Afternoon drive to Oslo. Overnight at the Thon Bristol Hotel, or similar.
DAY 11 WEDNESDAY, JULY 9 [B]
Oslo: Morning sightseeing tour of Norway’s capital city includes a visit to Vigeland Sculpture Park. Balance of day free to explore this vibrant city. Dinner on own. Overnight at hotel.
DAY 12 THURSDAY, JULY 10 [B]
Oslo – Depart: Tour ends following breakfast. Transfer to Oslo Gardermoen Airport for return flight. Longer stays may be requested upon registration for a minimum charge of $250.
