DAY 1 SATURDAY, JUNE 28
Mpls/St. Paul – Bergen: Depart the USA on your transatlantic flight.
DAY 2 SUNDAY, JUNE 29 [D]
Bergen: Arrive at Bergen Flesland Airport. Transfer to hotel. Balance of day free to adjust to time change. Welcome dinner and overnight at the Hotel Norge by Scandic.
DAY 3 MONDAY, JUNE 30 [B]
Bergen: Morning sightseeing tour of Norway’s second largest city includes a walk through the historic Hanseatic Wharf (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Afternoon and evening free to visit the famous Fish Market or ride the funicular to the top of Mount Fløyen for a magnificent view of Bergen. Dinner on own. Overnight at hotel.
DAY 4 TUESDAY, JULY 1 [B]
Bergen: Day free in Bergen for independent explorations. Dinner on own. Overnight at hotel.
DAY 5 WEDNESDAY, JULY 2 [B,D]
Bergen – Flåm – Lofthus: Drive to Voss. Transfer to the Oslo/Bergen Railway and continue to Myrdal. Board the famous Flåm Railway, ranked as one of the top 20 train rides in the world. Enjoy breathtaking views and the thundering sound of waterfalls as we descend 2800 feet within 13 miles from Myrdal to Flåm. Cruise the dramatic Aurlandfjord and Nærøyfjord from Flåm to Gudvangen. Meet the motorcoach in Gudvangen and proceed to Lofthus, located in the heart of Norway’s cherry, apple, and pear orchards. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Ullensvang along the Sørfjord.
DAY 6 THURSDAY, JULY 3 [B,L,D]
Lofthus – Stavanger: Morning drive from Lofthus to Ølen. Visit a local rosemaling artist and enjoy a light lunch. Ferry from Arsvågen to Mortavika and drive the underwater tunnels from Rennesøy to Randaberg en route to Stavanger, the hub of North Sea oil exploration and development operations. Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Stavanger upon arrival. Dinner and overnight at Radisson BLU Atlantic Hotel.
DAY 7 FRIDAY, JULY 4 [B]
Stavanger: Day free with opportunity to view an historic event. This day marks the 200th anniversary of the first organized emigrant journey from Norway to America. To commemorate this occasion, the sloop “Restauration” will once again, 200 years later, cross the Atlantic departing from Stavanger at 12 noon, setting sail for New York Dinner on own. Overnight at hotel.
DAY 8 SATURDAY, JULY 5 [B,D]
Stavanger – Kristiansand – Fevik: Enroute to Kristiansand, drive a portion of the coastal route, enjoying scenic views of the North Sea, as well as the unique cultural landscape of Jæren, one of Norway’s leading agricultural districts. Proceed to Fevik. Dinner and overnight at Strand Hotel Fevik, a seaside hotel.
DAY 9 SUNDAY, JULY 6 [B,D]
Fevik – Vrådal: Visit Grimstad, one of the pristine coastal villages which line the southern coast of Norway. Learn about local maritime history when visiting the Maritime Museum. Continue on a scenic drive through Telemark to Vrådal. Dinner and overnight at Straand Hotel.
DAY 10 MONDAY, JULY 7 [B,L,D]
Vrådal – Rjukan: Visit the West Telemark Museum in Eidsborg, one of Norway’s largest outdoor museums and tour the Eidsborg Stave Church. Continue to the “fairytale” Dalen Hotel for lunch. Drive to Rjukan for dinner and overnight at Gaustablikk Høyfjellshotell.
DAY 11 TUESDAY, JULY 8 [B]
Rjukan – Oslo: Visit the Industrial Museum and Vemork Power Station, where the Nazis produced “Heavy Water” for their atomic bomb experiments during the war. Afternoon drive to Oslo. Overnight at the Thon Bristol Hotel.
DAY 12 WEDNESDAY, JULY 9 [B,D]
Oslo: Morning sightseeing tour of Norway’s capital city includes a visit to Vigeland Sculpture Park. Balance of day free to explore this vibrant city. Farewell dinner and overnight at hotel.
DAY 13 THURSDAY, JULY 10 [B]
Oslo – Depart: Tour ends following breakfast. Transfer to Oslo Gardermoen Airport for return flight.
