This 9-day independent tour features visits to Oslo, Bergen and 4 nights in the heart of the Norway’s Fjord Country at the Brekke Fjord Retreat. Spend your days outdoors hiking the Flåm Valley, riding the famous Flåm Railway and picnicking on picturesque mountainsides.
Itinerary can be reversed (Bergen to Oslo).

Arrive in Oslo. Overnight at the Thon Hotel Opera, or similar.
Breakfast at the hotel. Your day is free to sightsee in Norway’s capital city. Visit some of the city’s most famous sites including Vigeland Sculpture Park, the Viking Ship Museum, the Norwegian Folk Museum or Akershus Castle. Overnight at hotel.[B]
After breakfast at the hotel, pick-up car rental (not included in price) and drive to Flåm. There are several routes available each featuring Norway’s beautiful scenery and rich history:
Upon arrival in Flåm, continue to Brekke’s Fjord Retreat for overnight.[B]
Wake up refreshed and ready for a day of adventure! We recommend spending your first day in Norway’s Fjord country experiencing the Flåm Railway & fjord cruise (Norway in a Nutshell experience). See various options below:
For fabulous views of the region, drive to Aurland and up the narrow and winding mountain road with its hairpin bends which leads to Stegastein. A picnic lunch perhaps? Return to Aurland. Optional drive to Flåm. Tour and shopping in the harbor area or walk up the Flåm valley to view the local church from the 1600’s.
On your last day in Flåm, enjoy a day of relaxation, go kayaking or take the train up the valley for a picnic before hiking back down.
Upon departure from Flåm, optional visit to the village of Undredal, home of the smallest stave church in Northern Europe. Continue on to the popular winter and summer resort of Voss. Proceed to Bergen and drop off rental car. Overnight at the Clarion Admiral or similar. Your afternoon and evening are free to visit the famous Fish Market, ride the funicular to the top of Mount Fløyen for a magnificent view of Bergen or stroll through the old cobble-stoned streets.
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a day free for sightseeing in Norway’s second largest city. Visit Troldhaugen, home of Norway’s internationally-known composer, the late Edvard Grieg; take a walk through the historic Hanseatic Wharf; or simply enjoy shopping for those last-minute souvenirs.[B]
