Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Monday, July 8 Mpls/St. Paul―Oslo

Depart the USA on your transatlantic flight. To request alternate dates or for estimated airfare supplements from other US cities, please note on application.

Day 2: Tuesday, July 9 Oslo

Arrive at Gardermoen Airport Oslo. Transfer to hotel. Balance of day free to relax and adjust to time change. Welcome dinner and overnight at the classic Grand Hotel.

Day 3: Wednesday, July 10 Oslo

Morning sightseeing tour of Norway’s capital city includes a visit to Vigeland Sculpture Park and the Viking Ship Museum. Balance of day free to explore this vibrant city. Dinner on own. Overnight at hotel.

Day 4: Thursday, July 11 Oslo―Rjukan

Depart for Telemark, an area rich in cultural traditions and home to many famous writers and artists. Tour Heddal Stave Church, Norway’s largest stave church from the 12th century. Proceed to Rjukan. Visit the Industrial Museum and Vemork Power Station, where the Nazis produced “Heavy Water” for their atomic bomb experiments during the war. Dinner and overnight at Gaustablikk Hotel.

Day 5: Friday, July 12 Rjukan―Kristiansand

Proceed to Kristiansand, “the capital of Southern Norway,” a small maritime city nestled along the Norwegian coastline. Dinner and overnight at Thon Hotel Kristiansand.

Day 6: Saturday, July 13 Kristiansand―Stavanger

Drive the North Sea Scenic Highway, the link between Southern and Western Norway. En route to Stavanger, we pass through Jæren, one of Norway’s leading agricultural districts. Proceed to Stavanger, the hub of North Sea oil exploration and development operations. Dinner and overnight at Clarion Hotel Stavanger.

Day 7: Sunday, July 14 Stavanger―Lofthus

Morning sightseeing tour of Stavanger. This modern Norwegian city is a charming mixture of old and new, retaining much of its 18th century charm. Drive the underwater tunnels from Randaberg to Rennesøy. Ferry from Mortavika to Arsvågen. Visit a local rosemaling artist. Light lunch before continuing to Lofthus, located in the heart of Norway’s cherry, apple and pear orchards. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Ullensvang along the Sørfjord.

Day 8: Monday, July 15 Lofthus

Day free to enjoy the many amenities of the Ullensvang Hotel. Relax along the fjord at the hotel's beach, play a game of tennis, take a paddle boat out into the fjord and more. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 9: Tuesday, July 16 Lofthus―Norway in a Nutshell―Os/Bergen

Drive across the Hardanger Bridge, which is 328 feet longer than the Golden Gate Bridge en route to Voss. Continue by train to Myrdal and change to the Flåm Line. Descend the Flåm Valley, dropping 2800 feet within 13 miles to the idyllic fjord community of Flåm. Cruise the dramatic Aurlandfjord and Nærøyfjord from Flåm to Gudvangen. Proceed to Os, south of Bergen. Dinner and overnight at the lovely Solstrand Hotel & Bad along the beautiful Bjørnefjord.

Day 10: Wednesday, July 17 Bergen Excursion

Sightseeing tour of Bergen includes a visit to Troldhaugen, home of Norway’s renowned musician, the late Edvard Grieg. Tour concludes with a guided walk through the historic Hanseatic Wharf. Balance of afternoon free. Return to Os for farewell dinner and overnight.

Day 11: Thursday, July 18 Os/Bergen―Depart

Tour ends following breakfast. Transfer to airport for return flight. Longer stays may be requested upon registration for a minimum charge of $150.
