Tour Itinerary

DAY 1: TUESDAY, JULY 7 Mpls/St. Paul – Oslo

Depart the USA on your transatlantic flight. To request alternate dates or for estimated airfare supplements from other US cities, please note on application.

DAY 2: WEDNESDAY, JULY 8 Oslo

Arrive at Gardermoen Airport. Transfer to hotel in downtown Oslo. Balance of day free to relax and adjust to time change. Dinner and overnight at Scandic Victoria Hotel.

DAY 3: THURSDAY, JULY 9 Oslo

Morning sightseeing tour includes Vigeland Park, Holmenkollen Ski Jump and Viking Ship Museum. Balance of day free. Dinner on own. Overnight at hotel.

DAY 4: FRIDAY, JULY 10 Oslo – Vaset

Depart by coach for Valdres. Drive the lush and beautiful Valdres Valley, ancestral home of your tour guide. In Fagernes, tour the Valdres Folk Museum. Visit the Slidredomen Church. Enjoy dinner and tour of Frode’s family farm. Drive to Gomobu Fjellstue for overnight.

DAY 5: SATURDAY, JULY 11 Vaset

Day free for hiking in the area or optional participation in the Valdres Rittet Bike Event (registration opens April 1, 2020). The 33-mile bike route leads through beautiful mountain landscape on gravel roads and more demanding mountain terrain (shorter race distances are available for beginners). Dinner. Overnight at hotel.

DAY 6: SUNDAY, JULY 12 Vaset - Flåm

Drive to Gol and continue through the Hallingdal Valley. Cross the largest high mountain plateau in northern Europe, the barren Hardanger Plateau. Descend the wild Måbødal Canyon past the Vøring Waterfall plunging 600 ft into a narrow rock basin. Tour the Hardanger Nature Center reflecting the Norwegians’ love and respect for nature. Lunch on own. Proceed to Voss. Enjoy a 3-hour family rafting adventure on the Vosso River, which runs from Voss to Evanger. Start in flat water, then go with the flow for about 4 miles, passing sections of gentle rapids with waves and whirlpools, ending in Evanger Lake. Barbeque dinner and continue to the fjord-side community of Flåm. Overnight at Flåmsbrygga Hotel.

DAY 7: MONDAY, JULY 13 Flåm

Day free for a variety of optional activities (please see list of optional activities below). Dinner at Ægir, one of Norway’s best craft breweries, housed in a building inspired by Norse mythology, with the exterior reminiscent of a stave church. Overnight at hotel.

Guided Optional activities in Flåm:
- RIB Basic Fjord Safari: Price from $110 per person. Get up close to nature as you skim the fjord on a 1.5-hour (departure at 9:00am) RIB (rigid inflatable boat) safari. Necessary gear is provided for a safe and comfortable experience of the fjords on open RIB boats with a maximum of 12 guests, ensuring a personal experience with a guide and a chance to get close to small villages and waterfalls along the way.
- RIB Fjord Safari with Hike to Goat Farm: Price from $230 per person. 6-hour excursion (departure at 9:00am) from the fjord to the mountain! Enjoy a fjordsafari on the Aurlandfjord and to the great Sagfossen waterfall in the UNESCO listed Nærøyfjord. Go ashore at the Skjerdal pier and hike towards Leim mountain goat farm (1.5 hour hike uphill to altitude of 1315 feet). Upon arrival, tour the farm and learn some secrets behind making the traditional goat cheese. Enjoy a goat cheese tasting and a delicious lunch made with local produce. Hike back down to Skjerdal (about 30 min) and return to Flåm by minibus.
- Kayaking: Price from $120 per person. 3-hour excursion (departure at noon) on the Aurlandfjord. Enjoy the sight of water cascading down the mountainsides and the sound of your paddles as you experience the Aurlandfjord.

Independent Optional activities in Flåm:
- Hiking to Brekke Waterfall: One of the most popular hikes in Flåm. Hike on a well-marked path in steep terrain. Wonderful views await you at the waterfall. 1.5 hrs roundtrip
- Hiking the Flåm Valley: Ride the train to Myrdal and hike down the beautiful Flåm Valley.
- Biking: Bike rental from $50 (9:00am - 6:00pm). Choose to explore the area on your own by bike or inquire about biking Rallarvegen, Norway’s most popular bike trip, approx. 6 hours from Finse to Flåm.
- Zipline: Price from $150 per person. The longest zipline in Scandinavia (with a span of 1,381 meters) starts at Vatnahalsen near the Bergen Line and the Flåm Railway and ends up in Kårdalen close to the Rallarrosa Cheese Farm, in the upper part of the Flåm Valley. You’ll begin your adventure with a train ride on the Flåm Railway to Vatnahalsen station. From the station, it takes only a couple of minutes to walk to the top of the zipline. Following the Zipline Experience, you may return to Flåm by renting a bike from Kårdalen (from $45 per person), or hike the Flåm Valley (approximately 2 hour hike).

DAY 8: TUESDAY, JULY 14 Flåm - Voss - Bergen

Board the Flåm Railway, one of the top 20 train rides in Europe. Ascend the wild Flåm Valley to Myrdal. Change to the Oslo/Bergen Railway and continue to Bergen. Transfer to hotel. Two-hour afternoon walking tour of beautiful Bergen. Dinner and evening on own. Overnight at Clarion Admiral Hotel.

DAY 9: WEDNESDAY, JULY 15 Bergen - Stavanger

Breakfast at hotel. Morning free. Walk to the pier for 1:30pm departure by ferry to Stavanger. Relax on board the ferry as you pass quaint villages and dramatic coastal scenery. Upon arrival in Stavanger at 7:00pm, transfer to the Clarion Stavanger Hotel. Overnight at hotel.

DAY 10: THURSDAY, JULY 16 Excursion to Pulpit Rock

Breakfast at hotel. Morning transfer to the base of Pulpit Rock by bus/ferry. Enjoy an invigorating 3.5 mile hike to Pulpit Rock which rises nearly 2000 feet above the Lysefjorden. Return to Stavanger in the evening. Dinner. Overnight at hotel.

DAY 11: FRIDAY, JULY 17 Stavanger - Depart

Tour ends following breakfast. Transfer to Sola Airport for return flight. Longer stays may be requested upon registration for a minimum charge of $150.
