About This Trip

An adventure to NORTHERN NORWAY and opportunity to run in the TROMSØ MIDNIGHT SUN MARATHON

Once a year hundreds of runners from around the world flock to Tromso, Norway for a marathon experience unlike any other. The Midnight Sun Marathon starts at 9pm where for two months from May to July, the sun never sets in this part of the world. Runners race through the city center of Tromsø and across the "Tromsøbrua" bridge, that connects the town with the mainland.

Racing beneath the Midnight sun, I felt connected with nature and at one with this incredible phenomenon. Unlike many loud and rowdy races in the U.S., the Midnight Sun Marathon was peaceful and at times relatively quiet, except for the local Norwegians who would step outside their homes to bang instruments and cheer me on as I ran by, creating an authentic cultural experience I wouldn't have traded for even thousands of screaming fans.
