DAY 1 THURSDAY, JULY 25
Mpls/St. Paul―Oslo: Depart on your transatlantic flight. To request alternate dates or for estimated airfare supplements from other US cities, please note on application.
DAY 2 FRIDAY, JULY 26 [D]
Oslo: Arrive at Oslo Gardermoen Airport. Transfer to hotel. Balance of day free to adjust to time change. Welcome dinner and overnight Thon Hotel Opera, located in the city center.
DAY 3 SATURDAY, JULY 27 [B,D]
Oslo: Morning sightseeing tour featuring Vigeland Sculpture Park, the largest sculpture park in the world by a single artist, boasting over 200 pieces by Norwegian sculptor Gustav Vigeland. Afternoon free for independent exploration or opportunity for individual family heritage site visits. (Individual arrangements may involve extra charges.) Dinner on own. Overnight at hotel.
DAY 4 SUNDAY, JULY 28 [B,D]
Oslo―Fagernes―Beitostølen: Proceed to Fagernes via Jevnaker. Opportunity to purchase Norwegian glass/crystal at reduced prices at Hadeland Glassworks. Tour the Valdres Folk Museum in Fagernes. Dinner and overnight at Beitostølen Mountain Resort.
DAY 5 MONDAY, JULY 29 [B,D]
Beitostølen―Sogndal: Morning free for independent exploration or opportunity for individual family heritage site visits. (Individual arrangements may involve extra charges.) In the afternoon, drive to Sogndal. Ferry across the mighty Sognefjord. Dinner and overnight at the Quality Hotel Sogndal.
DAY 6 TUESDAY, JULY 30 [B,D]
Sogndal―Flåm: Morning drive to Vik. Visit the 12th century Hopperstad Stave Church, a replica of which is found in Moorhead, Minnesota. Continue to Undredal, a small community with 80 people and nearly 500 goats. It is home to the smallest church in Scandinavia, built as a stave church in 1147. Visit Eldhuset for an introduction to the tradition of farming in the mountains, as well as the making of goat cheese. Afternoon cruise on the Nærøyfjord and Aurlandfjord from Gudvangen to Flåm. Dinner and overnight at Flåmsbrygga Hotel.
DAY 7 WEDNESDAY, JULY 31 [B,D]
Flåm―Voss: Morning ride on the famous Flåm Railway, ranked as one of the top 20 train rides in the world. Ascend 2800 feet within 13 miles to the mountaintop station at Myrdal. Change to the Oslo/Bergen Railway and continue to Voss. In Voss, visit the Voss Folk Museum (Mølstertunet), a farmstead with buildings from the 16th century and a rich collection of folk art. Dinner and overnight at Fleischer’s Hotel.
DAY 8 THURSDAY, AUGUST 1 [B,D]
Voss―Bergen: Morning free for independent exploration or opportunity for individual farm visits. (Individual arrangements may involve extra charges.) Afternoon drive to Bergen. En route, tour a farm that has been in the same family since the 16th century. Dinner. Overnight at Scandic Hotel Norge.
DAY 9 FRIDAY, AUGUST 2 [B]
Voss―Bergen: Morning walking tour includes a stroll through the historic Hanseatic Wharf. Balance of day free. Dinner on own. Overnight at hotel.
DAY 10 SATURDAY, AUGUST 3 [B]
Bergen―Depart: Tour ends following breakfast. Transfer to Bergen Flesland Airport for return flight. Longer stays may be requested upon registration for a minimum charge of $250.
