Mpls/St. Paul – Oslo: Depart on your transatlantic flight. To request flights from other cities or alternate dates, please note on application.
DAY 2 TUESDAY, JULY 28 / AUGUST 18 [D]
Oslo: Arrive at Oslo Gardermoen Airport. Meet your Tour Director and transfer to hotel in city center. Balance of day free to relax and adjust to time change. Welcome dinner and overnight at the Thon Hotel Bristol.
DAY 3 WEDNESDAY, JULY 29 / AUGUST 19 [B]
Oslo: Morning sightseeing tour of Oslo includes a visit to Vigeland Sculpture Park. Balance of day free. Dinner on own. Overnight at hotel.
DAY 4 THURSDAY, JULY 30 / AUGUST 20 [B,D]
Oslo – Rjukan – Dalen: Depart Oslo for Telemark, an area rich in cultural traditions and home to many famous writers and artists. Photostop at Heddal Stave Church, Norway’s largest stave church from the 12th century. Continue to Rjukan. Visit the Industrial Museum and Vemork Power Station, where the Nazis produced “Heavy Water” for their atomic bomb experiments during the war. Proceed to the Dalen Hotel, one of Norway’s most iconic hotels, built in 1894, and known for its Swiss chalet-style architecture. Dinner and overnight at the Dalen Hotel.
DAY 5 FRIDAY, JULY 31 / AUGUST 21 [B,D]
Dalen – Stavanger: Morning visit to the West Telemark Museum in Eidsborg, one of Norway’s largest outdoor museums and tour the Eidsborg Stave Church. Depart for Western Norway, a route which entails stunning views and impressive alpine landscape. Stop at a local silversmith and learn about the history of silversmithing which spans back to the Viking age. Before arriving in Stavanger, enjoy a taste of traditional Norwegian cuisine at a charming restaurant set in a restored dairy. Opportunity for shopping at the candle factory and gift shop before continuing to Stavanger. Overnight at the Radisson BLU Atlantic Hotel (Tour A) / Clarion Hotel Stavanger (Tour B).
DAY 6 SATURDAY, AUGUST 1 / AUGUST 22 [B,D]
Stavanger: Morning sightseeing in Stavanger, the hub of North Sea oil exploration and development operations. Afternoon free. At 5:00pm, sail away to a tropical island. Tour the beautiful gardens with swaying palm trees and fragrant flowers before dining in the island restaurant. Return to the hotel for overnight.
DAY 7 SUNDAY, AUGUST 2 / AUGUST 23 [B,L,D]
Stavanger – Lofthus: The morning drive includes several ferries and an extraordinary undersea tunnel, an engineering marvel that plunges 3.7 miles beneath the sea to the island of Rennesøy. Upon arrival in Ølen, stop for a light lunch and learn about the art of rosemaling from a local artist. Continue to Hardanger, the heart of Norway’s cherry, apple and pear orchards. Dinner and overnight at the exquisite Ullensvang Hotel (fjord-view rooms), nestled on the edge of the majestic Sørfjord.
DAY 8 MONDAY, AUGUST 3 / AUGUST 24 [B,L,D]
Lofthus – Os/Bergen: Drive north along the Hardangerfjord and across the Hardanger Bridge, which is 328 feet longer than the Golden Gate Bridge en route to Voss. Continue by train to Myrdal and change to the Flåm Line. Descend the Flåm Valley, dropping 2800 feet within 13 miles to the idyllic fjord community of Flåm. Cruise the dramatic Aurlandfjord and Nærøyfjord from Flåm to Gudvangen. Meet the motorcoach and travel to Os. Dinner and overnight fjordside at the stunning Solstrand Hotel and Bad (fjord-view rooms) with its magnificent view of the fjord and mountains.
DAY 9 TUESDAY, AUGUST 4 / AUGUST 25 [B,D]
Excursion to Bergen: Excursion to Bergen or if preferred, unwind at the hotel’s wellness center or award-winning spa. Sightseeing tour of Bergen includes a guided walk through the historic Hanseatic Wharf (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Time on own to stroll through the colorful Fish Market or take other independent explorations. Afternoon return to Solstrand for dinner and overnight.
DAY 10 WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 5 / AUGUST 26 [B]
Os/Bergen – Depart: Tour ends following breakfast. Transfer to Bergen Flesland Airport for return flight.
