ITINERARY – 8 DAYS
DAY 1 MONDAY, AUGUST 10
Arrive Reykjavik: The Flybus shuttle brings you from Keflavík International Airport to Reykjavík where you spend the first night in Iceland. If you are arriving earlier in the day, you might consider adding a day tour. We’d be happy to make suggestions based on your interests. One of our favorite activities after a long flight is to visit one of the neighborhood geothermal pools. It is so refreshing to relax in the warm water, breathing in the fresh Icelandic air. It’s a great way to get to see Icelandic daily life and maybe meet a few locals. It’s also nice to take a stroll in the old city center, perhaps visiting one of the museums or relaxing with a cup of coffee in a cozy café. Dinner this evening is at your leisure. Reykjavik offers a multitude of restaurants and/or coffee-houses, making dinner a great way to get better acquainted with Iceland’s capital. Overnight at Skuggi Hotel or similar.
Please note that hotels in Iceland start check-in around 14:00 (2:00pm), and early check-in is not guaranteed. Most hotels will be happy to store your luggage if you are not able to check in early.
DAY 2 TUESDAY, AUGUST 11 [B,L]
Golden Circle Tour: Explore the Golden Circle, including Gullfoss waterfall, the Geysir geothermal area, and Þingvellir National Park. The day features a Geo Taste experience at Geysir, sampling traditional hot spring bread with Icelandic butter, boiled eggs, and herring. The visit to Þingvellir National Park highlights its stunning landscapes and the tectonic rift between the North American and Eurasian plates. Return to Reykjavik in the evening. Dinner on own. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 3 WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 12 [B,D]
Solar Eclipse Day*: Begin the day with free time to explore Reykjavík and soak in its vibrant charm. In the afternoon, anticipation builds as you journey to a premier location for the Solar Eclipse, accompanied by a professional guide. Witness the awe-inspiring moment as the Moon aligns perfectly between the Earth and Sun, transforming the sky into a breathtaking twilight. Solar Eclipse glasses are provided for safe viewing, with an optional telescope set up at a cozy ocean side restaurant for an enhanced experience.
The day concludes with a delightful 3-course dinner and a glass of champagne, offering the perfect opportunity to reflect on this extraordinary moment in your Icelandic adventure. Overnight at hotel in Reykjavik.
*While this tour is designed to offer the best possible viewing experience, please note that clear skies cannot be guaranteed for Solar Eclipse Day. Like the northern lights, this rare celestial event depends on natural conditions beyond our control. Every effort will be made to provide an unforgettable experience, whether on land or water. Itineraries may be adjusted accordingly.
DAY 4 THURSDAY, AUGUST 13 [B,L]
Reykjanes Peninsula & Blue Lagoon: The day begins with a guided Reykjavík city tour, featuring visits to key landmarks and a local tasting experience. Continue with a scenic exploration of the Reykjanes Peninsula, renowned for its striking geothermal landscapes. Highlights include Gunnuhver, Iceland’s largest bubbling mud pool, the colorful geothermal area of Krýsuvík, the Brimketill lava rock pool, and the Bridge Between Continents, where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet. End the day with a relaxing visit to the Blue Lagoon, soaking in its warm, mineral-rich waters surrounded by dramatic lava fields—the perfect way to unwind after a day of adventure. Return to Reykjavik for overnight at hotel.
DAY 5 FRIDAY, AUGUST 14 [B,L,D]
Reykjavik – South Coast – Vik: The journey begins along the South Coast with a visit to Seljalandsfoss waterfall, where it is possible to walk behind the cascading water. A short ferry ride takes the group to Vestmannaeyjar (Westman Islands), with highlights including bird cliffs, Elephant Rock, and a volcanic crater formed during the 1973 eruption. The day includes a tour of Eldheimar Museum, known as the “Pompeii of the North,” which chronicles the island’s remarkable resilience. Overnight at Hotel Katla in Vik.
DAY 6 SATURDAY, AUGUST 15 [B,L,D]
Excursion to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon: This day offers a captivating blend of Iceland’s natural wonders and geological marvels. Explore the dramatic ice formations and deep crevasses of Svínafellsjökull, a striking glacier tongue extending from Vatnajökull, Iceland’s largest glacier. Experience the serene beauty of Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, where drifting icebergs create a stunning glacial landscape, enhanced by an included Amphibian Boat Tour that provides an up-close view of the brilliant blue icebergs. The day culminates in the town of Vík with the Lava Show, an exhilarating display of molten lava in a controlled environment, offering a fascinating insight into Iceland’s powerful volcanic forces. Overnight at hotel in Vik.
DAY 7 SUNDAY, AUGUST 16 [B,L]
